I wanted to do a post on Asexuality, since it hasn't come up much in class.  Asexuality is a sexual orientation loosely based around not feeling sexual, however it is extremely personal and there is a vast spectrum of arousal and action within Asexuality.  Someone who might feel sexual but abstains in some way(s) might identify as anti-sexual or asexual or even maybe Stone (butch).  I LOVE and seek out any and all pop cultural references to Asexuality.  Part of this is rooted in my deep critique of most songs' implication that we are incomplete, and a sexualized love relationship with another person is the missing piece, the part that finally makes us whole...which is some BULLSHIT ewwww most disgusting rampant concept soo unempowering and untrue.  So the following videos and songs all relate to themes of Asexuality or an Asexual experience such as:

lack of arousal being pathologized

socially fruitless and dismissed self-identification

masturbation roolz

I'm really into the idea that arousal is a binary in our culture, which needs to be smashed!  Are you turned on or are you turned off?  Asexuality grapples with this.

Ace stuff also expands our language around romantic standpoints and identity.  So we can get really specific, like, he's a white weird panromantic asexual.  or she's an aromantic switch masochist. etc.
